Elderly Ministry

Who we are:

We are a group of young people who love serving others, especially those who are wise in years.

Our mission:

The primary role of Elderly Ministry is to serve the elderly, the sick, the hurting, and the hopeless wherever they are.

What we do:

Serving the elderly essentially means visiting them at adult day health care (ADHC) centers and convalescent homes, as well as at their personal homes. During these visits, we sing and play music, share the Gospel message, pray and simply interact with them. The best part of our ministry is being able to talk to many interesting people from all walks of life and listen to their stories. Because the elderly are often overlooked and lonely, the best thing we can do is become friends with them and show them the love of Christ.

Our goal is to visit the elderly in their homes every Sunday. Visits to ADHC centers and convalescent homes as currently scheduled as opportunities arise.

How you can get involved:

This ministry is really open to all people, regardless of age, status or experience. All you need is a love for people and a heart for hospitality. If you are a musician, even a beginner, you are more than welcome to join us and serve the elderly with your talents! If you are a speaker or an aspiring preacher, you are invited to serve the elderly with a word of encouragement!

To receive text notifications about upcoming visits to the elderly, please talk to David Mazur.

How you can pray for us:

  1. Pray for the elderly people who reside in ADHC centers and convalescent homes. They are often lonely and feel neglected. Pray that God would lift their spirits and give them hope, joy and peace. Pray that those who do not know Christ yet would come to know Him.
  2. Pray for the volunteers that dedicate their time for visiting the elderly. Pray that they would have the sensitivity to know what to say and how to say it with love and compassion. Pray that they would be able to listen more and genuinely care about the people they meet.

How you can financially support us:

When we visit the elderly, we like to bring them flowers and cards to show them our appreciation. To cover these costs, please make checks payable to “Missionary Gospel Church” with “Elderly Ministry” in the memo field. Or, give cash donations to David Mazur or Peter Smolin and you will receive a cash receipt.
